Public Website

Visitors to the public-facing Northern Learning Lodge website may access general information, public educational resources, the About page, the Contact page, and this Privacy Policy. The public website is separate from classroom learning environments.

The public website does not provide public access to participating classrooms, student profiles, classroom Quests, or classroom-specific information.

Classroom Environments

Classroom-specific content is restricted to authorized users. A visitor who is not authenticated and authorized for a participating classroom receives no classroom-specific student information. Student learning environments are designed to default to an empty state when authorization cannot be established.

Information Used by Classroom Environments

Northern Learning Lodge is designed to use only information reasonably necessary to operate its classroom functions. Depending on the classroom implementation, this may include:

• school email address or another approved account identifier;
• character name;
• character class;
• experience points and level progress;
• classroom resources and game items;
• achievements and badges;
• Quest availability and completion status;
• reward status;
• decisions or responses made during classroom simulations; and
• timestamps required to operate or protect those functions.

Where Classroom Information Is Stored

Northern Learning Lodge does not maintain a separate central database of student profiles. Classroom-specific information is stored in teacher-controlled classroom data sources used with the site. The public Northern Learning Lodge website acts as the interface through which authorized users interact with that information and does not maintain the classroom profile database.

Access

Classroom information is intended to be available only to users who are authenticated and specifically authorized for the relevant classroom. Possessing a link to a classroom page does not by itself grant access to classroom information.

Where individual student information is displayed, Northern Learning Lodge is designed to provide a student only with information required for that student's own classroom experience.

Data Sharing

Northern Learning Lodge does not sell student personal information. Student information is not provided to advertisers and is not used to create advertising profiles. Classroom information should be shared only with services required and approved for operation of the classroom environment.

Advertising and Tracking

Student-facing Northern Learning Lodge environments are designed to operate without advertising, affiliate marketing, commercial solicitations, or advertising-tracking technologies.

Any future commercial or public-facing function of Northern Learning Lodge will remain separate from student classroom environments and will not use classroom student information for commercial purposes.

Security

Northern Learning Lodge is designed to use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information it handles, including authenticated access, authorization controls, encrypted web connections, server-side validation of changes, and separation between public information and classroom-specific information.

No security system can guarantee absolute protection. Security and privacy controls will continue to be reviewed as Northern Learning Lodge develops.

Retention and Deletion

Classroom information should be retained only for as long as required for its educational and administrative purpose and should be managed according to the policies and records-management requirements of the school authority responsible for the classroom implementation.

Teacher and School-Authority Control

The teacher or school authority implementing Northern Learning Lodge remains responsible for determining the classroom information used with the service, appropriate access, retention practices, and compliance with applicable privacy and educational requirements.
